Third Announcement

Dear colleagues,
We are happy to confirm that October 9 to 12, 2009,  Georgian Mathematical Union  organizes the Congress in Batumi, a Black sea resort of Georgia, the capital of autonomous republic Adjara, on the border with Turkey. The Congress will be held in the modern and beautiful building of Batumi State University, restored recently.
Program of the Congress covers almost all aspects of the modern mathematics and comprises the following sections (organizers):

We have applied for a financial support to the government and different foundations and hope to raise sufficient funding to cover ALL LOCAL EXPENCES for the most of our guests, including the accommodation and daily meals, excursions, but excluding conference fee-100 Euro, and conference dinner (will be decided later). Unfortunately, we will not have sufficient funding for international travel grants.
Batumi can be reached both from Istanbul:

and from Tbilisi to Batumi you can travel with bus or train (6-7 hours, buses departing every hour, train departing twice a day).
The airport in Batumi is very close to the city. Batumi is about 350 km west from Tbilisi.
Hotel: we provide for participants hotel in the suburb of Batumi, hotels Liza and  Eva in Gonio, about 8 km. from the University, the place of main events. You can look at these hotels at

Visa affair is the  easiest part of the travel. Most of You did not need a visa for Georgia at all (citizens of EU countries, USA, Japan, Israel, Turkey, Canada, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova etc.). All remainders (including citizens of Russia) can apply for visa and obtain it while crossing the border of Georgia at official checkpoints, including all airports of Georgia.
The program will include excursions in the beautiful surroundings of Batumi and Kutaisi (Georgia) about 100 km. towards Tbilisi, a capital of ancient Kolkhida. There You can visit museums, ancient churches and castles. The last session of the Congress and the closing ceremony is planned in Kutaisi.
It is worth mentioning that Batumi is the most rapidly developing city in Georgia and had changed dramatically during the past 5-6 years.
Weather at that time is still warm in Batumi and it is possible to swim in the Black sea.
You are welcome to register for the conference, send Abstracts of tentative talk (see the attached template file). Indicate please the desired section where you intend to present Your contribution.  The conference rooms will be equipped with overhead and media projectors.
The deadline for sending an abstract and registration is September 30.

  7. Abstract of the talk, up to 1 page (see the attached template file)
  8. Information about an accompanying person/persons

 Conference fee, 100 Euro,  can be paid directly on the registration desk.
We are ready to answer all possible questions concerning the details about the conference.
